Colombia Helps Fight Bolivia Dengue
La Paz - Bolivian health authorities
confirmed on Tuesday the Colombian
government contributed insecticides and
fumigation equipment to face a dengue
epidemic in that country.
With the initiative, Bogota joins
international cooperation efforts against
the scourge affecting Bolivia since January.
It also granted supplies to treat the
disease, which has already claimed 22 lives,
with over 39,000 suspicious cases.
Colombian ambassador Fulvia Benavides
delivered the humanitarian aid, the Health
Ministry informed.
Brazil will also donate ten tons of
insecticides and over 1,000 mosquito
repellent candles today, while Bolivian
Health Minister Ramiro Tapia announced
economic aid from China and France.
In a meeting with foreign press Monday,
President Evo Morales expressed thanks for
the international cooperation to face the
worst epidemic in the last 20 years, and
mentioned the support of Cuba, Venezuela,
Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Japan.
