Bolivia Links Oil Director
with CIA
La Paz - The government minister, Alfredo Rada, linked a US diplomat
with former director of the state oil company, Rodrigo Carrasco,
accused of infiltrating this institution on orders of the Central
Intelligence Agency (CIA).
According to Rada, the previous CEO of Yacimientos Petrolíferos
Fiscales Bolivianos Carrasco met with Francisco Martinez, who is the
second secretary of the Washington embassy in this country.
Rada says Martinez has irregularities in his migratory status that
include absence of documentation and undeclared entrances and
departures.
The government minister assured that the diplomat is involved in
other contacts and suspicious activities. "We will wait for the
right time to reveal these movements," he warned.
Rada took advantage of an exchange of opinions with national and
foreign journalists to describe the activities of the former manager
of Commercialization of the state oil company.
He is accused of setting up a network of corruption within the
company that is the mainstay of the Bolivian economy.
The 21 trips abroad made by Carrasco were supported by the US
embassy, which proves the interest of the CIA in training him for
covert operations, the minister explained, adding that Washington
must be aware of the priority of the government on issues of
national security.
Our security services maintain a permanent vigilance of all actions
that could endanger the stability of the State, he added.
The accusations of CIA infiltration in this nation was presented
several days ago by President Evo Morales. |
