First AH1N1
Death in Guatemala
Guatemala - The first death related to
the A (H1N1) virus was announced Thursday in
Guatemala by Public Health Minister, Celso
Cerezo.
The victim is a 35-old man from the
Guatemalan southern department of Santa
Rosa. He had gone to a public hospital when
the virus was far advanced in him, so he
could not respond positively to the
anti-viral treatment and died.
Cerezo also announced the appearance of
eight more positive cases, bringing the
official number of infected people in
Guatemala up to 254.
Most of the patients are already cured, with
18 of them are responding well to the
treatment.
Cerezo reiterated the disease is under
control in the country, with a standard of
10 infected people a day.
Cerezo exhorted the Guatemalan population to
keep paying attention to the disease's
symptoms and go to the doctor immediately if
they arise. |
