Colombian President Thanks U.S.
For Medical
Aid
Bogota - Colombian President
Alvaro Uribe thanked on Saturday the United States
for its humanitarian aid presented at the country's
southwestern Tumaco port.
"We appreciate the help of the ship sent by the U.S.
government," Uribe told U.S. ambassador to Colombia
William Brownfield while visiting the site where the
U.S. ship "USNS Comfort" berthed.
He said that about 12,000 people had participated in
the medical activities of the ship, and the medical
staff on the ship had conducted more than 200
surgeries during past weeks.
Uribe expressed his gratitude to the Colombian
volunteers who had been working together with the
U.S. mission to help the people in the region.
