Utility Withdraws Request For Water Rate Hike
The Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AyA) withdrew yesterday its request for a 15% increase in water rates that was supposed have taken effect in April if approved by the Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep).

The move will affect some 530.000 consumers.

AyA officials formally asked the Aresep to file away the request and that it would have to incorporate the observations of the Contraloría General de la República (Comptroller's office) for its spending, before it can ask for a rate increase.
