Earthquakes Still
Shaking Nicaragua
Managua - Two
earthquakes over four
degrees on the Richter
scale shook on Sunday
areas of the Nicaraguan
Pacific, the Institute
for Territorial Studies
reported on Monday.
With 12 hours of
difference, the tremors
were felt in Masachapa,
64 miles from this
capital, in the morning
and at night, in front
of Cosiguina volcano.
The most recent event
was of 4.8 degrees and
its epicenter was
located 103 miles West
from Managua, 37 miles
deep in the Pacific's
marine bed.
Seismologist Allan
Morales said these
movements were caused by
collisions between the
Cocos and Caribbean
tectonic plates. |
