Animals In Quake Zone
Need Help As Well
More than 1.000 pets,
between dogs and cats,
who lived in the
earthquake disaster area
in Alajuela and Heredia,
near the epicentre, were
also affected.
The Asociación Nacional
Protectora de Animales (ANPA)
came to the rescue of
many family pets, many
of whom are now with
their owners, while
others are still in the
affected area wondering
the streets or
protecting property,
confirmed the head of
the ANPA, Gisela Vico.
Vico said yesterday that
they have followed up
reports of some 1.000
animals - 800 dogs and
200 cats - stranded in
the area.
The ANPA has received
support and help from
the World Society for
the Protection of
Animals (WSPA) and are
asking all Costa Ricans
to help feed and house
those animals still
alive in the area.

The ANPA is open from
7:30am to 5pm, Monday to
Friday.
