Panama Extols Cuban
Solidarity
Panama - President of Panama Martin Torrijos highlighted on
Monday the lesson of solidarity being taught by Cuba, a country that
"does not give what it has in abundance, but rather shares what it
has."
In a scholarship-granting ceremony for 82 Panamanian youngsters to
do medicine studies in Cuba, Torrijos said that the initiative has
benefited nearly 600 people.
Relations with Cuba were re-established under our government, and
"programs have been implemented to make up for lost time."
The Panamanian president also cited the positive impact of the
Vision Now program on the country, with 37,000 people benefited so
far.
We are sure that Cuba "shares our goal of turning Panama into a
country with social justice," as we agree on the objectives to
achieve a much more supportive society.
Addressing the 82 Panamanian students, Cuban Ambassador to Panama
Carlos Garcia Trapaga said that "you will be 82 new ambassadors of
Panama" in Cuban territory, you will be the living image of your
country.
