Panama Hosts Central America
Trade Meeting
Panama - Panama will host a meeting of the Council of
Ministers of Economic Integration (COMIECO) with an agenda centered
on common trade issues, official sources informed.
Advances of the process of integration, talks with the Caribbean
Community (CARICOM), the banana conflict and world financial crisis
are the possible subjects to be analyzed.
Confirmation has been received the COMIECO from Costa Rica,
Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador as well as the hosts.
After conclusion of all bilateral agreements with Central America
"we increasingly approach a grand region of free regional trade that
has 50 million consumers," concluded Gisela Alvarez, head of the
ministry of trade and industries.
COMIECO is in charge of coordinating the harmony of convergence and
unification of economic policies within a process of Central
American integration.
Its tasks concentrates on subjects such as custom’s procedures,
competition, solution of controversy, reconcile health measures of
general impact, among others. |
