Nicaragua Protecting Children

Managua - The Amor (Love) Program for children and adolescents'' rights is making progress today in Nicaragua, according Family Minister Maria Isabel Munoz. The plan, launched several months ago by the Communication and Citizenry Council Coordinator Rosario Murillo, aims at registering around 20,000 children not listed in the Civil Register, to restore their rights to a name and nationality.

According to the most recent figures, they have already restored that right to 1,200 minors, and are working to build and repair children's development centers.

The government also plans to continue assisting children without family protection and rescue from the streets minors involved in informal labor.
