Racsa Dropping Internet Rates 25%
Goods news for Radiográfica Costarricense (Racsa)
internet customers, as the state internet
service provider will be dropping rates on
average 25% next month, on all its cable
modem connections.
The 1Mb connection will drop from us$34.95
to us$25.95 monthly and the 256Kb to
us$13.95. The higher band services like the
4Mb will also be dropping to us$129.95 from
the current us$168.95 monthly.
In Racsa tradition, although the rates drop,
the monthly bill won't drop, as the company
will increase customer's connection speed to
the next price level. Customers who want to
pay the lower rate will have to contact
Racsa to keep them at the current speed and
lower price.
The rate drop is in response to Racsa's
parent company, the Instituto Costarricense
de Electricidad (ICE), who also announced a
drop in rates up to 40% on all its
residential internet connections.
Racsa internet connections are by way of the
local cable companies, who also provide
television services, while ICE provides
internet services directly to its customers
over the telephone lines, the service known
as ADSL.
