Panama Thanks Cuban Collaborators
Panama - Cuba
solidarity organizations in Panama paid
homage to colloborators from the island as
part of agreements signed by both
governments.
Representative Lexzayra Ramirez noted the
work of these Cuban professionals, which
provides important benefits for the
population.
During the meeting commemoration was also
made of the 48th anniversary of Playa Giron
from April of 1961, which represented an
important step in the fight for liberation
in Latin America.
Diplomats, sports and agricultural
technicians, advisors of Operation Light
Bulb implemented to promote an efficient use
of energy and the program Muevete Por Panama
that is involved in eliminating illiteracy
participated in the event.
In his words of appreciation, Cuban
ambassador in Panama, Carlos Garcia Trapaga,
emphasized the results achieved in
initiatives such as Operation Miracle, with
more than 38,000 patients operated.
In addition is the literacy program with the
Cuban method, I Can, that should benefit
about 40,000 persons to declare Panama free
of illiteracy.
The event was part of a program of
activities in Panama this year as homage to
Cuba and five decades of its revolutionary
process.
This is part of an agreement of the
solidarity coordinatorship with Cuba in this
Central American nation.
