Peru To Give Verdict
In Fujimori Trial On April 7
Lima - Judge from the
Special Penal Hall Cesar San Martin said
Friday that the sentence in the trail
against Peruvian former President Alberto
Fujimori will be announced on April 7.
San Martin also announced that a second
trail against Fujimori regarding his payment
of 15 million U.S. dollars to his former
advisor Vladimiro Montesinos will begin on
May 11.
The Public Ministry has requested 30 years
of imprisonment for Fujimori.
Meanwhile, during the hearing on Friday,
Fujimori rejected all the accusations
against him, saying the charges against him
do not have sustenance and he is being
accused without evidence.
Fujimori is accused of crimes against
humanity for the killing of politicians from
the opposition. The prosecutor accuses
Fujimori of the killing of 25 people,
including a minor, by a military command and
the kidnapping and torture of a businessman
and a journalist.
Fujimori was extradited from Japan to Chile
in October 2007. Fujimori escaped to Japan
in November 2000 after a scandal that marked
the end of his third consecutive period as
