Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da
Silva said on Wednesday that leaders of the
G20 must have maturity to deal with the
international financial crisis.
"The only thing that I hope for is that the
presidents' meeting here have the maturity
to understand that every day that passes
without a solution for the crisis, more
people will suffer," Lula was quoted as
saying in London, where the G20 Summit will
take place on Thursday.
"Everybody knows what to do, we just have to
have the courage to do it."
Lula also said Brazil didn't want to depend
only on the U.S. dollar as reference
currency. He mentioned that Brazil and
Argentina recently use their own currencies
instead of the U.S. dollar in bilateral
commercial transactions.
Lula reaffirmed that Brazil does not need
International Monetary Fund(IMF)'s loan at
the moment, as it has sufficient reserves.
