State Banks Ready To
Offer Help To Late
Payers
Credit customers of the
Banco Popular are
finding relief as the
state bank has decided
to hold off on
collections of
defaulters, victims of
the current financial
crunch. The bank is
offering to temporarily
freeze customer debt.
Víctor Rodríguez,
director of personal
banking, explained that
customers who have a
good credit history, but
fnding themselves
behind, can enter into
an agreement with the
bank to hold off on
their loans and payments
based on their
potential.
The bank will also give
a helping hand to credit
card customers by
offering debt
consolidation and enter
into repayment
agreements.
At the Banco de Costa
Rica (BCR), the bank has
not made any formal
offer to its customers.
However, Mario Rivera,
BCR's general manager,
says that the bank is
monitoring the credit
situation to be ready to
respond in the event of
a crisis.
Officials at the Banco
Nacional (BN) say they
have seen no need to for
a change in policies,
while the Banco Crédito
Agrícola de Cartago (Bancrédito)
says it is analyzing the
possibility of offering
a solutions to
defaulters.
