Thousands of Sandinistas Mobilize in Managua
Managua - Thousands of Sandinistas -followers of the National Sandinista Liberation Front (FSLN)- were mobilized Tuesday from all Nicaragua to the capital, to demand, together with their fellowmen in Managua, the proclamation of winners in the municipal elections, which they said to have won according to preliminary data.

The FSLN followers are deployed from early hours all around the capital, and in front of the Electoral Supreme Council (CSE) headquarters.

Although there have been no disturbances, the concentration takes place a few hours before the opposition starts a protest march against the electoral results, from a central area of the capital.

According to the completed provisional vote counting Tuesday by CSE, FSLN won 106 governorships, included Managua, while the Liberal Constitutionalist Party (PLC) triumphed in 36 municipalities, and the minority Nicaraguan Liberal Alliance in four.

The results, however, are ignored by PLC that demands a revision on the scrutiny records in the 11, 808 voting boards of the whole country, based on supposed irregularities and fraud accusations.

PLC also demands that the recount is made in the presence of international and national observers, and it specifically named the Carter Center, the Organization of American States, and two well-known local organizations known by their criticism to the CSE.

The negative of the opposition to accept the defeat has derived in violent confrontations in several cities of the country, but mainly in Managua, where the Sandinistas are already celebrating for the victory of their candidate, former professional boxer Alexis Argüello, days ago.

The opposition march in the capital was convoked by PLC losing candidate, banker Eduardo Montealegre, and some managerial sectors and of the civil society.
