Zapote Fair To Have Fewer Bars This Year
The first of the 45 spots for the Zapote Fair held at the end of the year will go up for auction on Saturday, November 8, as the Municipalidad de San José gets ready for the traditional year end party.

Jorge Villalobos, president of the Comisión de Festejos, said that the bidding will begin at 10am at the municipal building on Avenida 10 and only 7 liquor licenses, instead of the 15 last year, will be available.

Villalobos explained that though there will be fewer bars, each one will be much larger that last year, this to allow people more comfort instead of a lot of small crowded bars.

The Zapote Fair is held on the east side of San Jose and could mean a potential profit of ¢225 million colones, 10% more than last year, that will largely be used to help out the Hospicio de Huérfanos (Orphanage), according to Villalobos.
