About 2.3 Million Panamanians to Vote in 2009
The Panamanian Electoral Court stated that 2.3 million people could vote in the May 3, 2009 elections, according to a Sunday report.

Electoral Court general secretary Zoila Penalba said that April 30 is the deadline to update information in the electoral register.

Penalba noted that 23 commissions have been created to deal with all related to elections.

She informed that the Court has a budget close to $11 million, an amount that could reach almost $17 million in 2009.

Panamanians must elect their President, two vice presidents, Parliament members, mayors and councilor representatives for a five-year mandate.
