"Dry" Holiday
Although supermarkets and major retailers like PriceSmart and Hipermás will be open during Thursday and Friday, the sale of liquor and beer will be suspended at the 12:01am Thursday and continue until Saturday morning, as the "Ley Seca" - dry law - goes into effect.

Bars will get a a visit from the local police to be have a seal on their doors. Liquor stores will be closed shut. Restaurants can only offer soft drinks and water. Supermarkets and major retailers will have to cordon off their liquor and beer sections.

This is also a time for alcohol abuse, as many stock up before the Ley Seca goes into effect, and consumer greater amounts during the holiday days.
