Chavez Musters
Venezuelan Unity
President Hugo Chavez
called on the members of
the Venezuelan United
Socialist Party (PSUV)
to gather forces among
the people to overcome
internal and external
opposition when regional
elections are held this
year.
After swearing in the
national board of the
organization, Chavez
recalled that 2008 will
be of prime importance
for the revolutionary
process of Venezuela
with elections next
November for governors,
mayors and state
legislators.
"One of the plans of
imperialism is based on
the electoral process,
to weaken us during
these months in an to
attempt to defeat us in
the elections at the end
of the year," the
president said in the
Municipal Theater of
Caracas.
He pointed out that the
PSUV must gather popular
forces to strengthen the
process and defeat them
both in the ballots as
in the daily battles
against reactionary
forces of the oligarchy
and the United States
government.
They want to cause
shortages and we must
guarantee quality and
sufficient food and
security for all the
people. They want para-militarism,
violence, robbery, but
we must defeat them with
efficiency and plans for
public safety, he
explained.
"We must have only one
strategy, prevent breaks
that would weaken us.
Force is in union and
the creation of the PSUV
and swearing in of the
direction is an
additional element of
power, of the capacity
to transform history,"
he concluded. |
