INS Now Offering
Individual Policy
Coverage For Vehicle
Insurance
The Instituto Nacional
de Seguros (INS) has
made major changes in
its vehicle insurance
policies, allowing
customers two purchase
the coverage that best
fits their needs rather
than a set group of
coverages.
Customers now can choose
from covering their
vehicles fully or choose
from a series of
coverages individually
like theft, third party
coverage and collision.
In the past the
coverages were all
bundled into one policy.
In addition, the INS
will now also start
offer life insurance
based on dollars and not
only colones like in the
past.
"The institution is
offering competitive
products to its clients
in the face of opening
of the insurance
market", said the
president of the INS,
Guillermo Constenla.
The changes to the auto
insurance is major as
now customers can choose
to insure their vehicle
only for robbery, for
instance, and not have
to purchase third party
liability or collision
or vice versa. In the
past, customers did not
have a choice and had to
include a particular
coverage if purchasing
say third party
liability.
Another change to the
auto insurance is the
additional coverage that
allows a customer to be
compensated for the cost
of a rental vehicle if
their vehicle is in the
shop longer than 15
days.
In the area of life
insurance, the INS now
allows customers to
purchase the Seguro Vida
Global that will pay out
in dollars.
