New Cellular Fraud
Uncovered
If you receive a call
that displays "INVIABLE"
your cellular telephone
screen, do nothing, let
it ring until is stops,
as answering it or
stopping the call in mid
ring will infect your
cellular phone with a
virus that will copy the
information from the SIM
chip that is then
duplicated.
The fraud artists can
use the information
obtained from the SIM,
the heart of a GSM
cellular phone, to run
up charges on your bill,
once the the information
is transfer to a SIM
chip on another cellular
phone.
Another fraud that you
can fall victim to is
the receiving of an SMS
- text - message.
The message asks you to
call "1749", which also
triggers a virus to
duplicate the SIM chip
from the calling
cellular telephone and
again allowing fraud
artists to run up a bill
on your account.
If you receive such a
text message, erase it
immediately.
The calls using either
method of duplicating a
SIM chip are believed to
be coming from inside
the jails. |
