Hello, This Is Your Car
Speaking. I Am Being
Robbed.
Hugo Artavia is making a
name for himself with
his invention that will
disable a vehicle if it
is bumped or the doors
opened without a key.
Although there are
several products on the
market to deter car
break-ins and theft, the
device developed by
Artavia uses a cellular
telephone to call the
owner, who can listen in
on what is happening at
the scene.
The device costing
˘200.000 colones
(include the cellular
phone that is hidden in
the vehicle) will
activate eight seconds
after a vehicle
experiences a bump or an
intruder.
Once the owner of the
vehicle gets the call
and make the decision to
deactivate the vehicle
from his or her cellular
phone. Up to nine
numbers can be
programmed into the
vehicles list of calls
to make.
Artavia says the device
can be also used in the
case of a "bajonazo"
(car jacking),
recommending that the
driver not put any
resistance, because can
then later all the
vehicle and deactivate
it.
Artavia says that his
system is a lot better
than finding our hours
later that the vehicle
has been stolen.
Although the device does
yet have a name, a call
to 8899 6144 or 2443
6222 can get you an
installation
appointment.
