Safe Return Home From Vacation
The Policía de Tránsito (Traffic police) reported a smooth return home of vacationers over the weekend, with few accidents and practically no traffic congestion on the major routes.

Some 450 Tránsitos were on hand to ensure the safe return home and it paid off, according to Tránsito director, Germán Marín.

Traffic was heavy, but moved with a constant flow with no major setbacks yesterday afternoon including the traditional traffic bottlenecks in the area of the Monte del Aguacate and the area around the Juan Santamaría international airport.

To ensure traffic kept moving all heavy trucks were ordered off the road yesterday afternoon and in some cases the system of "reversible" lanes was used to move traffic in one direction.

However, traffic around the San José area, especially in the areas surround malls, traffic was heavy. Many parents decided to leave shopping for school supplies to the last minute, causing congestions in many areas like San Pedro and Escazú.
