Exchange Rate Steady
For the first time in almost a week the dollar exchange rate remain level on Thursday following the intervention of the Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) - Central Bank on Wednesday.

The dollar closed yesterday at a buy of ˘556 colones, keeping close to the ˘555 buy ceiling the Central Bank set on Wednesday, down from the previous ceiling of ˘572.

The sell rate hovered around the ˘544 at most banks.

The Central Bank's intervention means that the exchange rate cannot change more than ˘0.6 colones per day, putting the brakes on a runaway exchange rate that saw a single day change of ˘18 colones on Tuesday.
