Colombia Pays Rewards To
Informers For Capture Of
Guerilla Member
Three informers who
tipped police to capture
a former guerilla chief
will receive rewards of
500 million Colombian
pesos (more than
us$250,000 dollars),
police said Monday.
The Colombian police
captured Guillermo
Antonio Usuga Graciano,
also known as "Tio
Pancho", in Arbolotes
Municipality Saturday.
The guerilla chief is
accused of more than 80
kidnappings.
This man has been
accused of many
kidnappings for 10
years. Several police
units have worked for
months to achieve the
capture, Director of the
Police of Colombia Oscar
Naranjo said.
Naranjo also said that
Usuga's capture is an
accurate hit against the
structure of the
Revolutionary Armed
Forces of Colombia (FARC).
Established in the
1960s, FARC is the
largest anti-government
guerrilla group in
Colombia. Colombian
President Alvaro Uribe
has made clear his
determination to destroy
the group.
