Iberoamerican Health
Ministers Meet in
Salvador
The 10th Iberoamerican
Conference of Health
Ministers began Friday
in Salvador to discuss
measures to improve
sanitary conditions of
young people and
teenagers in the region.
According to reports
reaching here from San
Salvador, 19 health
ministers or
representatives from
Latin America, Spain and
Portugal attended the
two-day meeting.
The ministers will work
out a document to be
presented to the 18th
Iberoamerican Summit on
Oct. 29-31 in San
Salvador. The summit's
slogan will be "Youth
and Development."
Salvadoran Foreign
Minister Marisol Argueta
de Barilla said the
projects must focus on
"reaching the
perspective that we
share as a region, where
the youth represents the
strategic actor for the
development."
Salvadoran Health
Minister Guillermo Maza
said Salvador's
government will propose
concrete actions for the
welfare and the
development of the
region's youth.
It is necessary to
achieve the unification
of programs and to
strengthen the
compromise to boost the
public policies in the
health area, Maza said.
Spanish Director of
Public Health Idelfonso
Hernandez said his
country is interested in
including in the
document education
issues to improve
sanitary conditions. |
