Nicaragua Puts Poverty First
The "Etica y Transparencia" organization recognized Tuesday the Nicaraguan government's priority in the budget to favor the poorest and most marginalized sectors of the country.

The organization's executive director Roberto Courtney, in his report on President Daniel Ortega's first year of government, mentioned this result as well as the return to free education and public health.

The entity also recognized the government's effort to improve food security in the most needed population sectors.

Nevertyheless, the group said that the country closed 2007 with insufficient economic growth to satisfy the creation of new jobs and face inflation, above all in the food sector, among other aspects.

It also stated that energy measures were not enough to solve the problem.
