15 Presidents to Guatemalan Inauguration
Fifteen Heads of State and Government and ministerial delegations from 75 countries will attend the take office ceremony of Guatemalan president-elect Alvaro Colom on January 14, said the Guatemalan Foreign Ministry here Tuesday.

Among the Presidents who confirmed their attendance, there are Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua); Martin Torrijos (Panama); Maunel Zelaya (Honduras); Antonio Saca (El Salvador); Leonel Fernandez (Dominican Republic) and Oscar Arias (Costa Rica).

All these countries are part of the Central American Integration System, in a region that Alvaro Colom considers a priority in his foreign policy as President of Guatemala.

The Guatemalan Foreign Ministry also confirmed the attendance of the Presidents of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez; Rafael Correa, from Ecuador; Felipe Calderon, from Mexico, and Alvaro Uribe, from Colombia, among others.

There will also be high level delegations from several Latin American, European and Asian countries and international organizations, Guatemalan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Valentina Flores told Prensa Latina Tuesday.

Flores said everything is ready to receive official delegations, which will start arriving in Guatemala on January 12, until the 14th, the day of the ceremony, which will be covered by nearly 400 national and international journalists.

Alvaro Colom won the elections in a second round on November 4, and will rule Guatemala from 2008 to 2012.
