Colombia Drug Trafficker
Assets Go to State
BOGOTA - The Higher
Court of Bogota
delivered the personal
assets of renowned drug
trafficker Juan Carlos
Ramirez Abadia (Chupeta)
to the Colombian
government Thursday, in
what it is considered a
historical decision.
The personal fortune of
Ramirez Abadia went up
to us$81 million dollars
in cash, 2 million euros,
25 million Colombian
pesos, 307 kilograms of
gold in ingots, 180 gold
coins, eight houses and
a vehicle.
Colombian radio station
RCN informed magistrates
considered the money
found in the Colombian
city of Cali at the
beginning of 2007,
belongs to Colombia, and
does not have to be send
to the US for
certification.
Magistrates said the US
request on the money did
not have any solid
reason, so the fortune
will be delivered to the
Colombian government,
which should give
detailed information on
how the money will be
invested.

Abadia was caught in
Brazil last year, and
extradited to the US
last week by the
