Education Change
To define curricula
that will make a change
in regional education is
the purpose of the third
Ibero-American Integral
Education Congress
continuing Wednesday
Panama, to give students
the professional
training needed for
current challenges.
Some 500 teachers from
Latin America, Spain,
Portugal, the United
States and Canada are
participating in the
meeting "Integral
Education, The Key to
Change."
At the meeting's opening
ceremony yesterday,
Cuban Professor Omar
Leal, Ibero-American
Council chair, proposed
a new educational model
that will defeat
unemployment and
underemployment and
eradicate the current
social blights.
Joaquin Villar Garcia,
organizing committee
chair and rector of
Panama's Columbus
University, considered
that integral education
should be approached as
a process that requires
permanent reflection,
action and evaluation.
The congress will issue
a final declaration that
will include proposals
and recommendations to
the 23 participating
