Dengue Increase Alarms
Honduras
Haemorrhagic dengue
cases have increased
twenty-fold in Honduras
this year compared to
2006, admitted the
country's health
authorities Wednesday.
The Health Ministry
reported 895 cases of
this most deadly variant
of dengue just between
January and August, with
only 46 cases last year.
Honduras Health Minister
Jenny Meza recognized
that his country appears
among the Central
American nations with
the highest rate of
hemorrhagic dengue,
which has thus far
killed 10 people.
Data also reveals that
18,000 Hondurans are
suffering classic
dengue, about five times
more than 2006.
Meza highlighted the
government efforts to
raise the people's
consciousness of the
danger and the measures
to avoid its
