Mother Says Her Baby
Died Because of Poor
Medical Attention At
Limón Hospital
Officials of the
Hospital de Limón are
rejecting that the eight
month infant who died
earlier this week of
Hemorrhagic Dengue
received poor attention
at the medical centre.
Shandry Arthur,
Kendall's mother, said
that she took her baby
to the Tony Facio
hospital on Sunday, when
doctors diagnosed
anemia, gave her a
prescription and sent
her and infant home.
Arthur says that she
returned on Monday and
was told the same thing.
It wasn't until Tuesday
when the infant was
finally diagnosed with
Dengue and airlifted to
the Hospital de Niños
(children's hospital) in
San José.
The infant died on
Thursday.
Arthur said she is
considering suing the
Caja Costarricense del
Seguro Social (CCSS) for
the death of infant,
adding that her baby
would still be alive if
doctors had attended him
properly on Sunday.
The funeral is today at
2:00pm in Colina en
Limón.
