Anti Drug Police Break
Up Drug Family Ring
In a simultaneous raid
on 13 homes, the Policía
de Control de Droga (PCD)
took down an entire
family business
dedicated to the drug
trade. Twelve people,
all related, were
arrested in the early
Wednesday morning police
operation.
This is the 18th drug
family ring to be broken
up by police this year.
Police confiscated a
large among of crack
cocaine all ready for
sale and raw material
for the manufacture of
more, some 2.5 million
colones in cash, seven
vehicles and 3 firearms.
The family gang was
headed by the brothers
Corella Benavides who
all have prior records
for drug trafficking and
death threats.
The raids occurred in
Ajuelita, Escazú and San
Sebastián.
