Latin America and the Caribbean must not be quiet about the US president's scheme for Cuba, because it is also a plan against our people, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro stated in this capital.

The new Bush designs for Cuba are filled with hate, resentment and disdain towards our peoples, and this is an attack on all Latin America, Maduro told Prensa Latina.

"That is why nobody should be quiet, everyone must react to those attacks," noted the minister after attending here an important Mercosur meeting.

"We express from Montevideo our admiration for Cuba and proclaim that Bush's statements only increase our desire to side with the Cuban people," he stressed.

Maduro recalled that "last Sunday, 95 percent of Cubans went to vote within the institutionality of a positive system made by themselves in their own sovereignty." "Bush's statements are a renovation of ancient US colonialist yearnings, exacerbated with the resentment that Cuba is firmer than ever," the Venezuelan official said.

Maduro stated that when the UN General Assembly debates October 30 for the 16th consecutive time the issue of the blockade on Cuba , this will have another resounding political victory.
