Brazilians top list of most time spent online
Brazilian residential Internet users in April spent the longest time surfing the web in the world, breaking their own record registered in March, said a survey released on Tuesday.

The survey, conducted by firm IBOPE/NetRatings, found that each Brazilian home user spent at least 21 hours and 44 minutes on the web in April, up 3.9 percent from 20 hours and 55 minutes in March, the highest monthly result verified in the country since September2000.

Brazil has presented an average annual rise of 11.8 percent in the amount of time its citizens spend connected to the Internet.

Among other countries where the survey was conducted, U.S. users spent 18 hours and 49 minutes online. France came third with18 hours and 32 minutes; Spain, 18 hours and 30 minutes; Japan, 17hours and 39 minutes; Australia, 17 hours and 38 minutes.

The number of Brazilians with residential Internet access was 25 million in April, while the number of citizens with any type of access rose 0.8 percent last month, from 32.9 million to 33.15 million.

The survey also found that the rise in surfing time was more significant when it came to some specific content. Websites related to housing and fashion are the most popular among Brazilians while the ones on family and lifestyle came second.
