No Water For 8 Hours Today
If you live in the areas of Alajuelita, Escazú, Desamparados and Santa Ana, get out a bucket and fill it with water before 10:00am today, as the Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AyA) - water and sewer utility - said it will shut off water completely to those communities until 6:00pm.

The shut off is to replace an electrical transformer at the Puente de Mulas. The work should take no longer than 8 hours and will be carried out by workers of the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE).

Roosevelt Alvarado, director de Servicio al Cliente del Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AyA), said that the work is urgent, which if not carried out would have major consequences to water service.

The AyA gave a list of all the affected communities:

Santa Ana: Santa Ana Centro, Pozos, Gavilanes, Las Pilas.

Escazú: Escazú Centro, San Rafael, Bello Horizonte, Anonos, Guachipelín, Alto Palomas, Jaboncillo.

San Antonio de Escazú: Lotes Badilla, Corazón de Jesús, Carrizal, El Carmen y Bebedero.

Alajuelita: Alajuelita Centro, San Felipe, Concepción y San Josecito.

Desamparados: San Rafael Abajo, Maiquetía, Novedades, Los Ángeles, Santa Cecilia, La Florita, Higuerones, Vizcaya, Sagitario, Gardenia, San Miguel, La Capri, El Huazo, Sector 7 y Los Guido.
