Honduran Church Denounces Corruption
Corruption is at the root of the high Honduran crime rate because the funds for education stayed in the pockets of a few people, denounced Carlo Magno Nuñez, Chancellor of the Catholic Church in the country Monday.

According to this ecclesiastical representative, the funds dedicated to security have not been properly invested in what they were earmarked for, nor were the funds for social promotion.

The priest's statements were motivated by the murder of the Presidency of the Republic's escort, who was riddled by bullets in Tegucigalpa Friday.

He complained that in the country, the right to life is not respected, and that Honduras is becoming infamous in the world for its crime statistics.

"We request all the groups to meditate on life, which should be respected and preserved, and to work together for the inalienable right, which is human life," he said

He finally begged for family unity and for development of programs of social prevention for young people.
