Nicaragua Hosts Regional
UN Meeting
Representatives from 21
Latin American and
Caribbean countries
started on Monday in
this capital a two-day
meeting about
organization of UN
cooperation with the
hemisphere.
The Nicaraguan Foreign
Ministry said the
meeting´s objective is
to establish a
collective reflection
point among Latin
American and Caribbean
nations, about coherence
of the system in the
context of development.
The Managua´s Consensus
document will be signed
at the end of the
meeting, including the
regional position. It
will be presented in the
next Economic and Social
Council (ECOSOC)
meeting, scheduled for
July in Geneva.
The text will also
circulate at the UN
General Assembly in
September of the present
year.
The meeting is part of
the consultation process
fostered by the United
Nations to improve the
work and efficiency of
the organization,
Nicaraguan Foreign
