Panama Security in Place for OAS Meet
More than 1,200 members of Panama´s security
force were deployed in Panama City, for the 37th
Organization of American States General Assembly
and foreign ministers meeting from June 3 to 5.
The "Energy for Development" meeting will get
special security and escort services at the
Atlapa Convention Center, the event s venue, as
well as several Panama City hotels.
National Police Operations Director Frank Abrego
explained since Wednesday that the contingent,
the Balboa Task Group, is composed of agents
from the police, maritime, air, and
institutional protection services.
He announced that barricades will be placed
along the perimeters of important places,
although vehicular traffic and pedestrian
crossings will be permitted.
