Caracas to Host Latin
America Top
Environmental Meet
Latin American and
Caribbean heads of State
and ministers of foreign
affaire and tourism will
attend the First
Congress for the
Environmental Charter
and Climatic Change, to
be held in the Avila
Mountain, Caracas, on
October 11-13.
Deputy Jose Gregorio
Hernandez, who chairs
the Committee on
Environment and Tourism
of the Latin American
Parliament (PARLATINO),
said that the Committee
is scheduled to conclude
its seventh session,
coincidental with the
International
Environment Seminar,
which is setting the
principles of the
Environmental Charter
for the region, to be
submitted to the
Congress in October.
From The Avila top we
will proclaim to the
world a Latin American,
Caribbean call to save
the planet and look for
pro-integration
mechanisms regarding the
environment, said
Hernandez.
Third World countries
cannot afford the
expenses of an
ecological debt owed by
industrialized countries
which contaminated the
planet, he stressed.
