Hondurans Out of Gas and
Angry
Since last week 130
Honduran gas stations
have closed for lack of
fuel, and non-existence
of reserve supplies has
been verified by DIPPSA
(the national
distributor of oil
products) for which it
is being sued by the
government.
Administrative
Commission director Lucy
Bu and Ministry of
Industry and Trade
Production and
Consumption director
Reiniery Rivas confirmed
they presented the
required evidence to the
Honduran Public Ministry
to charge DIPPSA before
the Consumer
Prosecutor's Office for
causing damage to the
national economy.
Those documents clearly
establish the
distributor should have
a 15-day reserve stock,
which it does not have.
Transnationals SHELL,
ESSO and TEXACO are also
constantly out of fuel
and the government is
considering action
against them as well.
The problem for Honduran
drivers will continue
until mid July, when an
oil ship is expected. |
