Nicaragua Tries Drug
Traffickers
Twenty-one persons of
the 22 suspected of
being members of a
logistics network
created by Mexican
cartel of Sinaloa in
Nicaragua remain in
prison on Wednesday,
after being declared
guilty of drug
trafficking funding.
On Friday, the judge of
Tipitapa district Court,
Sergio Amador Perez
Alonso, will pass
sentence on the six
Mexicans, two
Guatemalans, and
thirteen Nicaraguans.
In the last hearing of
the trial on Tuesday
evening, the Prosecutor
s Office requested 15
years imprisonment for
12 of the accused, and
10 years for the rest.
Only one of the accused,
Nicaraguan Jimmy Arcadio
Alegria Alvarez, was
declared innocent.
The group was arrested
in April during various
operations in which
cars, guns, cash, and
communication equipments
were seized.
A secret runway built by
the accused on a farm
north of Managua was
also discovered during
the operations. |
