Gay Conference Has Heredia Residents Upset
Residents of Birrí de Heredia are up in arms at the announcement of a the first "gay" conference that is to be held in their town at a mountain hotel.

"We are going to protest, with signs at the entrance of the hotel to let people know we are against this sort of activity", one of the opponents told Telenoticias.

According to the residents of the area, the conference will take place at the Hotel La Catalina, but the hotel or conference organizers are talking.

Aberlado Araya, one of the participants of the conference, told Telenoticias that is a meeting to discuss cultural and political topics to commemorate the month of April, which has been categorized as the month for gay-lesbian pride.

According to Araya, the gay-lesbian activities will be ongoing throughout the month of April in various parts around the country.

The conference would occur until the third week in April.
