Corruption is Worsening
A full 72% of Costa Ricans
believe that corruption has
become worse in the last three
years. This percentage is
surpassed only by that on
Nicaragua, at 74%,
according to a Transparency
International survey.
A series
of events disclosed in 2004,
which involved three former
Presidents of Costa Rica and
several high public and private
officials in corruption, played
a major role in the perception
of Costa Ricans, said Roxana
Salazar, the president of the
Costa Rican Chapter of
Transparency International.
The
survey is held every three
years, and this time 68
countries were assessed.
