No more NBC in Costa Rica beginning today

October 1st, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The U.S. television network NBC has asked all cable television companies in Costa Rica to stop broadcasting its signal beginning today, including Cabletica, Tigo, CableVision, Claro TV and Telecable.

NBC has made the move after talks to continue carrying the channel failed.  The channel will be removed for both analog and digital systems from today.

      How do we hook up?

303-719-1427. You buy the Slingbox, company hosts for you for a charge. Must have internet in CR.

I suspect our provider Cabletica is not sharing the real reason for dropping NBC from their lineup is cost? While USTVNow.com is a good option, however who wants to watch TV on their laptop… also they only have so many free slots available. I already posted a complaint on the Cabletica Facebook page, as well as sent an e-mail to NBC… I’m sure Executive Management in both countries would listen if a few thousand ex-Pats living in Costa Rica who are regular viewers of NBC did the same thing.

The obama network no big loss

I figure this is only a temporary breakdown in negotiations (kind of like congress). NBC is probably asking too much, and at the end of the day will surely lower its price rather than get nothing. However, I don’t care. Except for occasionally watching Jay Leno’s monologs, I don’t ever watch NBC–and the executives there fired Leno anyway.

What’s NBC? worthless sit-coms. and news.

Other than watching some football on NBC there is not much else. There about 15 channels they can cancel as well so much garbage .. I hook up my laptop to my TV and get about any channel and sports I want. Maybe it is time to cancel my Cabletica TV and go 100% internet. Right cabletica??
