Child pornography found on computer in PANI offices

GOLFITO, COSTA RICA – September 21st, 2012 – The Golfito District Attorney is currently investigating child pornography found on one of the computers at PANI (child welfare agency) offices in Golfito.

PANI costa ricaThis comes just shortly after the same PANI office suspended three workers and began investigating six more on allegations of physical and sexual abuse, which we reported on September 4th.

The computer containing the child porn was reportedly located in the psychology department.  Interestingly, the psychologist was one of the staff suspended and reported to be under investigation for abuse in our September 4th article.

PANI officials filed the latest report on September 10th, and the District Attorney is currently in the process of investigating who the owner of the computer is, as well as the origins of the child pornography.

“The report was filed against an ‘unknown’ person, therefore, at this moment, we are collecting evidence in order to determine who the computer belongs to, “ explained Monica Alvarez, from the Public Ministry.

Alvarez also explained that Laura Beita, the DA in charge of the case, said they still do not know who the children are, or whether they are from the community.
