El Salvador President Plans Locally

San Salvador -  As of June 1st a new secretary in charge of Strategic Issues will be part of government announced by El Salvador president-elect Mauricio Funes.

He told the press that this was a relevant decision and will check all the strategic issues of the next government, after admitting recommendations of Brazilian Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva.

Shortly before the elections of March 15, FMLN candidate Funes traveled to that country where Lula ratified his will to collaborate with El Salvador to promote social and infrastructure investments.

Among the strategic issues of his administration the future president mentioned modernizing public administration, decentralization and strengthening of local development.

He supported "greater labor toward territorial links with local authorities and governments."

The new Secretary will be directly responsible for integration and strengthening of different programs that had previously been done independently on a micro level and attention to socially vulnerable sectors.
