Panama 's
President Elect Announces Cabinet Members
Panama -
Panamanian elected president Ricardo
Martinelli announced on Monday some members
of his future cabinet.
"I want to govern with the best citizens,
followers and members of other parties to
improve many things in Panama," Martinelli
said.
Martinelli won on Sunday the general
elections with 60.64 percent of the votes,
after 60 percent of the total votes had been
counted. He ran for the opposition Alliance
for the Change.
Martinelli said that Presidency Minister
will be Jimmy Papadimitriu, one of his
closest collaborators and considered as the
designer of Martinelli's victory campaign.
Journalist Lucy Molinar will be Education
Minister, while Romulo Roux will take charge
of the Panama Canal Issues Ministry, said
Martinelli.
To deal with the institutional crisis
affecting the social welfare, Martinelli
said that the ministry's future director
will have one month to solve the problem.
If it takes time for the welfare users to be
assisted, "I will publicly demand his and
his board's resignation," Martinelli said.
Martinelli will meet on Tuesday with current
President Martin Torrijos to coordinate the
power transition process.
