Guatemala - Panama's President Martin
Torrijos is to arrive in Guatemala Sunday
afternoon on an official visit, the first of
a head of State to this country since Colom
took office on January 14, 2008.
Both statesmen will analyze in private
several issues of interest, among them the
Central American integration, the Free Trade
Agreement between the two countries, and the
struggle against drug trafficking and
organized crime in the region.
Torrijo's agenda also includes a Socialist
International meeting in the colonial city
of Antigua Guatemala, and an encounter with
the capital's mayor Alvaro Arzu, who will
deliver him the keys of the city.
According to Foreign Minister Haroldo Rodas,
it is expected that Colombia's President
Alvaro Uribe, Brazil's Luis Inacio Lula da
Silva, Mexico's Felipe Calderon, and
Venezuela's Hugo Chavez will visit this
country. |
